It didn’t take much convincing to get me to decide I wanted to use cloth diapers for my daughter. I loved the fact that they would save us some serious cash, that they were better and safer for my baby, and they were helping the environment. Although we didn’t start CDing when Miss K was a newborn since the first few diapers we bought were nowhere near small enough for her, at least the disposables we used were chlorine free. It did make me feel a tiny bit better about having to use disposables, but I couldn’t wait to get her little tush in cloth!
I often hear comments like, “there is no way I would use cloth diapers,” or “you must be crazy to use cloth diapers.” I think I have heard every excuse in the book as to why moms and dads choose not to cloth diaper, but what I’m really hearing is they are uninformed or misinformed about the benefits of CDing and how different it is now compared to when we ourselves were cloth diapered years ago. Gone are the days of pins and plastic pants, but not everyone is aware of that. What the majority of them are also unaware of is how bad disposables are for their baby, the environment and their wallets.
What a difference it would make if every baby wore just one cloth diaper a day. And that’s where I come in. I am making it my mission to help educate and inform parents in the Buffalo, NY area about the benefits of cloth diapering and how to make it work for them…. even if it starts just one cloth diaper at a time!
