Will I really need Peri-Ease Sitz Bath Herbs for After Birth?

Hmmm…..Will you really need Peri-Ease Sitz Bath Herbs for your after birth care?

Well, no. I suppose you won’t need it.

You also won’t need your pillow to rest on. You won’t need slippers or a rocking chair. You won’t need any chair for that matter. You can just sit on the ground.

Your vagina will be pretty swollen and tender after you have given birth, but if you don’t mind it staying swollen and tender for awhile, go ahead and pass on the Peri-Ease Sitz Bath Herbs. See, it contains:

  • Comfrey
  • Calendula
  • Witch Hazel
  • Uva Ursi
  • Shepard’s Purse
  • Yarrow

All of these ingredients are going to help maintain a healthy pH in your vagina, reduce swelling and prevent infection in your perinea area, reduce issues with hemorrhoids, and heal the tears in your vagina and labia.

If you’re not lucky enough to birth with a midwife, your doctor is not going to tell you about these herbs. In fact, he will probably scoff at any mention of them. They will work though.

Your doctor will send you home with a little, plastic, off-pink sitz bath container that you are supposed to set on your toilet seat and put warm water and salt into. That’s all fine and good. It feels nice and is quite comforting. You can get the same comfort from an organic herbal sits bath though and it will also use the power of herbs that women have been using for thousands of years and see to it that your swelling reduces quickly, any infection is destroyed, the tissue repairs itself promptly and you will have the ability to sit and stare at your newborn child without a “doughnut” and without thinking about how bad your vagina hurts.

  1. I think there is this general assumption that the act of giving birth is where the most discomfort is involved with the birth process. Having supported Crystal through a few home birth recoveries, it was the days after that seemed to affect her more. Long after the adrenaline wears off, the swelling, the aches, the shrinking of the UTERUS! I made the peri-ease tea for her sitz bath after the births and that really seemed to help sooth and heal. Every little bit helps right?
