When I had my first son, it was very popular for women to celebrate their blossoming pregnant bellies by making a belly cast and decorating the belly cast. A few years later, I noticed women decorating their pregnant bellies with henna as women have done since antiquity. Today, more women are embracing the beauty of their pregnancies with increasingly detailed belly art. The end result is sometimes nothing short of astonishing and breath taking.
SKINCOGNITO is a specialty studio featuring the talents and art of award winning makeup artist & body painter Andrea O’Donnell. SKINCOGNITO explores all types of make-up artistry and body art, but my favorite work from her is her pregnant belly art. I think I like it best because pregnancy and this form of body art are both expressions of tremendous transformations, both of which are only temporary.
Before you know it, both body art and pregnancy are just a memory.
Andrea, of SKINCOGNITO, has allowed me to share some examples of her artwork with you guys. Take a look at this gorgeous artwork from SKINCOGNITO’s Andrea O’Donnell:

Aren’t these bellies breath taking? Did you do anything artistic to celebrate your own transforming pregnant belly? If so, we’d love to hear about it. Better yet, I’d love to see pictures. Please upload your own belly art to our Facebook page located here! And don’t worry… my belly art was done by my children… it does not have to be professional for me to want to see it.
*Andrea works out of the Michigan based studio, but also travels around the country creating her beautiful artwork. Her schedule fills up fast, so interested mamas should book their event early.
