If you are thinking of starting (or growing!) your family in 2019, yay! We are so excited for you. Pregnancy is such a wonderful, amazing journey.
However, it isn’t always as simple as it seems.
Every woman wants to have a happy, healthy pregnancy and luckily, there are things you can do to prep for that.
Here are five things to do if you want to get pregnant in 2019. Read on:
Diet and exercise
It goes without saying that a healthy mom equals a healthy baby, so if you want to have a baby next year, work on cleaning up your diet and starting an exercise regime. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic: But commit to three, 30-minute workouts a week and try eating 5-7 servings or fruits and veggies each day.
Take folic acid
Even with a healthy diet, pregnancy means you’ll need to make sure you get enough folic acid so both you and baby stay healthy. It’s pretty easy: Get a good prenatal with folic acid! You need at least 400 iu of folic acid, which can help prevent birth defects.
Stress less
We know, we know. Easier said than done. But being a mom is stressful, so you should really start now in learning how to keep your cortisol levels under control. Yoga, meditation and breathing techniques can all help.
If you start a habit of self-care now, it’ll translate into when you become a mom – and trust us. If you want to take the best care of your family, you need to take the best care of YOU.
Enjoy your partner
We don’t just mean sex, here (although there’s certainly that!). Take the time to really talk to your partner about parenthood and what it means to them. Having a baby can really bring up issues in your relationship – and in yourself, so before getting pregnant, make sure everyone is on the same page.
Track your cycle
The fact is, most women don’t pay very close attention to their menstrual cycle. By starting to track it now (how long it lasts, how much you bleed, pain, other issues and of course – ovulation) you will be better able to know when you are likely to conceive.
Everything Birth
We would love to be a part of your 2019 pregnancy and birth journey!
