Summer is on its way out and the kids are back in school. This can mean illness, and no one wants that. Luckily, there are some ways to try and boost your family’s immunity naturally.
Disclaimer: As always, talk to your doctor about these options before trying them – he or she knows best.
Here are some natural immunity boosters for families to try. Read on:
Vitamin C
Everyone kind of knows this, right? Vitamin C has been used to boost immunity for decades – and with good reason! Eating foods rich in Vitamin C, like citrus, sweet potatoes, peppers and broccoli, can help boost immunity but you can also take a supplement as well.
Ginger, Ginseng and garlic
Maybe you’ve heard of these roots. You can use ginger and ginseng in a variety of ways: In cooking, in teas, taken as a supplement. Ginger can help ease nausea and it also can be anti-inflammatory, which is good for your immune system!
Ginseng also reduces inflammation and it also contains antioxidants, which boosts immunity as well.
Garlic, especially raw garlic, is a great way to boost your immune system. It contains allicin, which can help with inflammation and overall wellness. If you plan to just eat raw garlic, and some people do, remember to let it sit for about 30 minutes before you eat it so it can oxidize!
Probiotics
A healthy gut can have an impact on your overall health and your immune system and one way to have a healthy gut is to use probiotics. So, what are they? In a nutshell, they are microorganisms that help the gut flora. You can take probiotics as a supplement but you can also get them in foods like yogurt, kefir and fermented foods like kombucha and sauerkraut.
